Elizabeth Clark Longineau (1924-1991)

Elizabeth Clark Longineau, 66, of Houston, passed away Monday, January 21, 1991 in a local hospital.  Member of the First United Methodist Church of Sugar Land.  Survivors, husband, James T. Longineau, mother-in-law Mrs. Grace Cox, sisters, Jean Enzweiler, Bobbie Packer; brother Joseph F. Clark, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services 11am Thursday, January 24, 1991, Stricklin-King Funeral Chapel, 718 Calhoun Ave., Yazoo City, Miss.  Interment Glenwood Cemetery, Yazoo City.  In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests donations be made to Hospice of The Medical Center, 6205 Almeda, Houston, Texas 77021 or The American Cancer Society, 6301 Richmond, Houston, Texas 77057.

Sidney Elton McIlveen (1912-1991)

Sidney E. McIlveen, 78, of Houston, died Monday, January 21, 1991.  Mr. McIlveen was a charter member of the Anson Jones #1313 Masonic Lodge and the proud grandfather of Sergeant Sid D. McIlveen, now serving in the Persian Gulf.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Violet. 

Mr. McIlveen is survived by his daughter, Marian McIlveen Jenny and husband Vern, Jr., of Houston; his son Sid McIlveen and wife Carol of Brownsfield, Texas; brother, John P. McIlveen and wife Marie of Folkston, GA; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm Friday, January 25, 1991 in Rosewood Cemetery.

Clara H. Porter Sindle (1902-1974)

Mrs. Clara Porter Sindle, age 71, of Hampton, died Thursday July 18 in the Dallas County Hospital. 

Survivors include a son, Jerry Sindle of Hampton; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Green of Fordyce, Mrs. Vernon West and Mrs. Shirley Crumpler of Hampton and Mrs. W.I. Miles of North Carolina; three brothers, Irvin Porter of Grady, and Gurley Porter and Wilburn Porter of Hampton; four sisters, Mrs. Cordell Riles and Zada Porter of Hampton, Mrs. Relda Reddin of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Eva Clawson of Norphlet; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Saturday, July 20 at the Campground Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Hampton with Rev. Ottis Reddin and Rev. Horace Dunn officiating.  Burial was in Campground Cemetery by Benton Funeral Home.

Vickie Walker Barrett (1946-1991)

Vickie Walker Barrett, age 44, passed away January 20, 1991 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.  Mrs. Barrett was born in Wheeler, Texas on November 13, 1946 to Maldon (Bus) and Dora Lee Walker.  She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1964 and from Baylor University Nursing School in 1969.  After working as a R.N. at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for several years, she became a member of the nursing staff at Methodist Hospital in Houston, where she worked until 1980. 

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Jerry Barrett; children, Travis and Tracy of the home; father Maldon W. Walker of Wheeler, Texas; brothers Bob and Larry Henderson of Longview, Jerry Henderson of Rosebud, South Dakota; and sister Sarah Blakemore of Dallas.  Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30am, January 22, 1991 in the Settegast-Kopf Chapel with Rev. Burt Burleson officiating.  Graveside services are scheduled for 1:30pm January 23, 1991 at Wheeler Texas Cemetery with Wright Funeral Home officiating.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Houston Hospice Program.

Alton Theodore Calloway, age 61, of 908 Lake Jackson Road in Clute, (Brazoria) TX, died on 29 Jan 1968 in Highlands.  He was born in Courtney, (Grimes) Texas on 6 Oct 1906, to David T. Calloway and Maggie Whigham Calloway.  He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Dicie Lee Calloway.  He was buried at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown (Harris), Texas.

William Nobles (1893-1909)

Longview, Tex., Sept. 7. - Two boys, aged 14 and 18, were instantly killed by a train on the Texas & Pacific east of Hallsville (sic), nine miles east of this place.  They were Marshall Parnell of Atchison, Arkansas and William Nobles of Dallas.  The bodies were found by the crew of a freight train about midnight last night, and the authorities at Hallsville were notified and communication was had with the parents of the boys.  The remains will be care for until called for.

Marshall Parnell (1895-1909)

Longview, Tex., Sept 7. -- Two boys, aged 14 and 18, were instantly killed by a train on the Texas & Pacific east of Hallville, nine miles east of this place.  They were Marshall Parnell of Atchison, Ark., and William Nobles of Dallas.  The bodies were found by the crew of a freight train about midnight last night, and the authorities at Hallville were notified and communication was had with the parents of the boys.  The remains will be cared for until called for.

Charles Henry Muehe (1880-1909)


 
The funeral of Charles Muehe, aged 21 years, who died Monday night at the residence, 3519 Winnie Street, is to be held from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock.

James H. 'Jimmie' Masterson (1880-1939)

Jimmie H. Masterson, 59, of 406 Peden, resident of Houston for more than 54 years and for many years operator of Masterson's Garage, died Tuesday night.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leah Marie Masterson; sister Mrs. M.M. Carter; two nephews, Allen and Edwin Carter; one niece, Waldene Carter, all of Houston.

He was a member of the Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Brotherhood of Elks.  Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at 8pm today at the Earthman Funeral Home to recite the rosary.  Funeral services will be held at 9:15am Thursday at the Earthman Funeral Home and at 9:30am Thursday at Sacred Heart, with Rev. Jerome A. Rapp officiating.  Burial in Hollywood Cemetery.

Anna McCarty (1875-1909)


Houston, Tex., Sept. 7 -- Mrs. Anna McCarty, aged 35 years, wife of Hubert McCarty, died at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning at the family residence, No 706 Bell Avenue.  Besides her mother, father and husband, deceased is survived by two children, two brothers and one sister, all of whom are now living in Houston.  Funeral services were held at the residence at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. W.H. Crum officiating.  Interment was in the German cemetery.

John Alford (1847-1909)

Caldwell, Tex., Sept. 7 - Late yesterday afternoon John Alford died at his home near Cookes Point, this county, and the remains were buried at Salem Church there today about noon.  He was about 60 years of age and was a native of this county, having been born and reared near where he died.  He was a brother of Mrs. Henry Page and Mrs. R... Wallin, D.C. Alford and H. Alford of this place.

Newt Chapman (abt. 1885-1909)


Saratoga, Tex., Sept 6th.  Mr. Newt Chapman, one of Saratoga's best young men, died recently.  He was ill about three days.  The deceased was very popular and was in the employ of Teel Bros. grocery store.  Every business house in town closed in respect to the deceased and the citizens turned out en masse to accompany his remains to their last resting place.

Moscow, Tex., Sept. 6. - Mrs. F. Edwards was found dead in her bed in her home at Berings, near Moscow, Sunday morning about 5:30 o'clock.  She is supposed to have died from heart failure.

Belle Durham Evans (1841-1909)

Caldwell, Tex., Sept. 7. - Last night at Clay Station in the lower Brazos bottom of this county, Belle Durham-Evans died at the age of somewhere between 65 and 70 years and the remains were buried this afternoon at Zion Hill Church, not far from Tunis.  She was perhaps the most intelligent and best-known colored woman in the county and so far as is known leaves but few enemies.

John Branham (1880-1909)

Big Sandy, Tex., Sept. 7. - The negro man found mangled on the Cotton Belt track north of the Union Depot here was identified as John Branham, a resident of Tyler.  He was a local retail merchant of that place.  The body was identified by H.M. Jordan and Fred Griffin.  The remains will be shipped to Tyler.

Rayola M. 'Mac' Robinson (1909-1991)



Rayola M. 'Mac' Robinson, 81, of Kemah, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 20, 1991.  He was born 25 August 1909, former owner-operator of Robinson's Restaurant in Kemah and former Kemah City Councilman.

Survivors: wife Mary Belle Robinson of Kemah, son Donald Ray Robinson of LaPorte, sister Merle Obermiller of Fayetteville, four grandchildren.  Friends may call at the funeral home until 2pm Tuesday.  Service will be at 2pm in the Jack Rowe Cathedral Chapel with Rev. James Killen officiating.  Interment will follow at South Park Memorial Cemetery in Pearland.

Lenia Emilie Meinen (1906-1991)




Miss Lenia Emilie Meinen, 84, died Monday, January 21, 1991, in a local hospital.  She was a longtime Houston resident and a retiree of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  She was a member of Faith American Lutheran Church.  She is survived by two sisters, Sylvia White of Rosenberg and Agnes Wingo of Houston.  Two brothers, Robert Meinen and Milton Meinen, both of Houston, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Thursday, January 24, 1991 at the Faith American Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd, with Pastor Paul W. Schairer officiating.  Interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.  For those desiring, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, Greater Houston Unit, P.O. Hazel S. Adams Booth McGuire (1906-1991)



Hazel Selby Adams Booth McGuire died January 20, 1991 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  She was born in Coushatta (Red River), Louisiana on December 21, 1906 to Walter A. and Annie Olds Adams.  She attended Louisiana State Normal College (Northwestern) in Natchitoches.  She was a resident of the Houston area since 1951.  Preceded in death by husbands George D. Booth and William S. McGuire, and son Walter J. Booth, she is survived by children, George E. and Maralyn Booth of Houston, Nita J. Kirby, Pasadena; grandchildren Susan and Michael Sasser of Thomasville, NC; Michael and Melanie Kirby, Steven Booth, Tracy Booth and Allison Booth of Houston, Richard Kirby of Austin, Patrick Booth of Dallas; and William and Brian Kirby of Pasadena.  Sister-in-law Nezoline Adams of Coushatta, LA; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, 9 nieces and nephews.  Graveside services 2pm Tuesday, January 22, 1991 at Forest Park Lawndale.
