Bettie Edwards (1849-1909)
Moscow, Tex., Sept. 6. - Mrs. F. Edwards was found dead in her bed in her home at Berings, near Moscow, Sunday morning about 5:30 o'clock. She is supposed to have died from heart failure.

Belle Durham Evans (1841-1909)
Caldwell, Tex., Sept. 7. - Last night at Clay Station in the lower Brazos bottom of this county, Belle Durham-Evans died at the age of somewhere between 65 and 70 years and the remains were buried this afternoon at Zion Hill Church, not far from Tunis. She was perhaps the most intelligent and best-known colored woman in the county and so far as is known leaves but few enemies.

John Branham (1880-1909)
Big Sandy, Tex., Sept. 7. - The negro man found mangled on the Cotton Belt track north of the Union Depot here was identified as John Branham, a resident of Tyler. He was a local retail merchant of that place. The body was identified by H.M. Jordan and Fred Griffin. The remains will be shipped to Tyler.
