Alton Theodore Calloway, age 61, of 908 Lake Jackson Road in Clute, (Brazoria) TX, died on 29 Jan 1968 in Highlands.  He was born in Courtney, (Grimes) Texas on 6 Oct 1906, to David T. Calloway and Maggie Whigham Calloway.  He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Dicie Lee Calloway.  He was buried at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown (Harris), Texas.

William Nobles (1893-1909)

Longview, Tex., Sept. 7. - Two boys, aged 14 and 18, were instantly killed by a train on the Texas & Pacific east of Hallsville (sic), nine miles east of this place.  They were Marshall Parnell of Atchison, Arkansas and William Nobles of Dallas.  The bodies were found by the crew of a freight train about midnight last night, and the authorities at Hallsville were notified and communication was had with the parents of the boys.  The remains will be care for until called for.

Marshall Parnell (1895-1909)

Longview, Tex., Sept 7. -- Two boys, aged 14 and 18, were instantly killed by a train on the Texas & Pacific east of Hallville, nine miles east of this place.  They were Marshall Parnell of Atchison, Ark., and William Nobles of Dallas.  The bodies were found by the crew of a freight train about midnight last night, and the authorities at Hallville were notified and communication was had with the parents of the boys.  The remains will be cared for until called for.

Charles Henry Muehe (1880-1909)


 
The funeral of Charles Muehe, aged 21 years, who died Monday night at the residence, 3519 Winnie Street, is to be held from the residence this morning at 10 o'clock.

James H. 'Jimmie' Masterson (1880-1939)

Jimmie H. Masterson, 59, of 406 Peden, resident of Houston for more than 54 years and for many years operator of Masterson's Garage, died Tuesday night.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leah Marie Masterson; sister Mrs. M.M. Carter; two nephews, Allen and Edwin Carter; one niece, Waldene Carter, all of Houston.

He was a member of the Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Brotherhood of Elks.  Members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at 8pm today at the Earthman Funeral Home to recite the rosary.  Funeral services will be held at 9:15am Thursday at the Earthman Funeral Home and at 9:30am Thursday at Sacred Heart, with Rev. Jerome A. Rapp officiating.  Burial in Hollywood Cemetery.

Anna McCarty (1875-1909)


Houston, Tex., Sept. 7 -- Mrs. Anna McCarty, aged 35 years, wife of Hubert McCarty, died at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning at the family residence, No 706 Bell Avenue.  Besides her mother, father and husband, deceased is survived by two children, two brothers and one sister, all of whom are now living in Houston.  Funeral services were held at the residence at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. W.H. Crum officiating.  Interment was in the German cemetery.

John Alford (1847-1909)

Caldwell, Tex., Sept. 7 - Late yesterday afternoon John Alford died at his home near Cookes Point, this county, and the remains were buried at Salem Church there today about noon.  He was about 60 years of age and was a native of this county, having been born and reared near where he died.  He was a brother of Mrs. Henry Page and Mrs. R... Wallin, D.C. Alford and H. Alford of this place.

Newt Chapman (abt. 1885-1909)


Saratoga, Tex., Sept 6th.  Mr. Newt Chapman, one of Saratoga's best young men, died recently.  He was ill about three days.  The deceased was very popular and was in the employ of Teel Bros. grocery store.  Every business house in town closed in respect to the deceased and the citizens turned out en masse to accompany his remains to their last resting place.

Moscow, Tex., Sept. 6. - Mrs. F. Edwards was found dead in her bed in her home at Berings, near Moscow, Sunday morning about 5:30 o'clock.  She is supposed to have died from heart failure.

Belle Durham Evans (1841-1909)

Caldwell, Tex., Sept. 7. - Last night at Clay Station in the lower Brazos bottom of this county, Belle Durham-Evans died at the age of somewhere between 65 and 70 years and the remains were buried this afternoon at Zion Hill Church, not far from Tunis.  She was perhaps the most intelligent and best-known colored woman in the county and so far as is known leaves but few enemies.

John Branham (1880-1909)

Big Sandy, Tex., Sept. 7. - The negro man found mangled on the Cotton Belt track north of the Union Depot here was identified as John Branham, a resident of Tyler.  He was a local retail merchant of that place.  The body was identified by H.M. Jordan and Fred Griffin.  The remains will be shipped to Tyler.

Rayola M. 'Mac' Robinson (1909-1991)



Rayola M. 'Mac' Robinson, 81, of Kemah, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 20, 1991.  He was born 25 August 1909, former owner-operator of Robinson's Restaurant in Kemah and former Kemah City Councilman.

Survivors: wife Mary Belle Robinson of Kemah, son Donald Ray Robinson of LaPorte, sister Merle Obermiller of Fayetteville, four grandchildren.  Friends may call at the funeral home until 2pm Tuesday.  Service will be at 2pm in the Jack Rowe Cathedral Chapel with Rev. James Killen officiating.  Interment will follow at South Park Memorial Cemetery in Pearland. 

Pallbearers: Ben Blackledge, Butch Medford, Gene Meyer, Frank Jones, Billy Blackmon, and Tommy Fritzmorris.  Honorary pallbearers Buddy Meyers, Sam Blackmon and Jerry Robbins.

Lenia Emilie Meinen (1906-1991)




Miss Lenia Emilie Meinen, 84, died Monday, January 21, 1991, in a local hospital.  She was a longtime Houston resident and a retiree of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.  She was a member of Faith American Lutheran Church.  She is survived by two sisters, Sylvia White of Rosenberg and Agnes Wingo of Houston.  Two brothers, Robert Meinen and Milton Meinen, both of Houston, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Thursday, January 24, 1991 at the Faith American Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd, with Pastor Paul W. Schairer officiating.  Interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.  For those desiring, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, Greater Houston Unit, P.O. Hazel S. Adams Booth McGuire (1906-1991)



Hazel Selby Adams Booth McGuire died January 20, 1991 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  She was born in Coushatta (Red River), Louisiana on December 21, 1906 to Walter A. and Annie Olds Adams.  She attended Louisiana State Normal College (Northwestern) in Natchitoches.  She was a resident of the Houston area since 1951.  Preceded in death by husbands George D. Booth and William S. McGuire, and son Walter J. Booth, she is survived by children, George E. and Maralyn Booth of Houston, Nita J. Kirby, Pasadena; grandchildren Susan and Michael Sasser of Thomasville, NC; Michael and Melanie Kirby, Steven Booth, Tracy Booth and Allison Booth of Houston, Richard Kirby of Austin, Patrick Booth of Dallas; and William and Brian Kirby of Pasadena.  Sister-in-law Nezoline Adams of Coushatta, LA; 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, 9 nieces and nephews.  Graveside services 2pm Tuesday, January 22, 1991 at Forest Park Lawndale.

Mabel Lee Carruth Inman (1914-1939)

Mrs. Mabel Lee Inman, 25, of 1510 Hazard, wife of Rev. S.M. Inman, pastor of the Third Baptist Church, died at 7am Sunday in a Houston hospital.  Mrs. Inman was born in Jackson, La. and had been a resident of Houston for 24 years.
 
She had been active in Houston church work for a number of years.  Fifteen years ago, she became a member of the First Baptist Church, and it was in this church that Rev. Mr. Inman was ordained and licensed to preach and where they were married.
 
Rev. Mr. Inman had been a pastor of the Third Baptist Church for three years, and Mrs. Inman was a teacher in the young people's department of the church and was active in women's organizations of the church.
 
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Jeanine Ann; parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Carruth; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Larkin, Mrs. Wilbur Moore and Miss Grace Carruth, and two nieces.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4pm today at the First Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of the Settegast-Kopf Company.

Lucretia Redish Martin (1818-1888)

Whereas it has pleased our Almighty God to remove our beloved sister Lucretia Martin from our midst, who departed this life the 2nd day of March, 1888, she was born in Warren County Georgia on May 12th 1818.  She was the daughter of Samuel B. and Susan Redish and was married to James H. Martin on the 2nd of November 1837, moved to Randolph County, Georgia and lived there until 1854 when they moved to Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, and lived there until the day of her death.

They lived together 54 years and four months, they had seven daughters and one son, who all survive her.  She was baptized into fellowship of Liberty Baptist Church.  She was in the constitution of the Central Baptist Church, of which she lived and died a consistent member; an old mother in Israel has gone but we mourn not as those who have no hope, whereas we bow in meek submission to our heavenly Father.

Harrison Franklin Engle (1864-1933)



Harrison Franklin Engle, 68, a resident of Houston for the last 16 years, died at his home, 415 West 21st Street, at 9am Friday, April 7, 1933.  He is survived by three sons, Russell Engle of Kokomo, Indiana, Claude Engle of Detroit, Michigan, and Garl Engle of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Gordon of Kokomo, Ind., and Miss Madia Engle of Houston.

Funeral services Sunday at 2pm at the residence, Rev. T.C. Jester officiating.  Burial in Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of the Heights Funeral Home.

John Clinton Beebe, M.D. (1842-1932)

Funeral services for Dr. John Clinton Beebe, 89, pioneer Houston physician, who died at 12:30am Thursday (23 June 1932) at his home, 2114 Center Street, will be held at Odd Fellow Temple on Rusk Avenue and Milam Street at 5pm Sunday, with Rev. T.J. Windham officiating.  Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery under direction of the Fogle-West Undertaking Company.

Pallbearers will be G.A. Brandt, John Long Jr., Fred Stepleton, R.H. Swartz, E. Wright and G.H. Graf.  Dr. Beebe had been a resident of Houston 39 years.  He was a member of Lone Star Lodge No. 1, I.O.O.F.; Joseph F. Collins chapter of Rebekahs and Woodbine encampment.  He was president of Odd Fellow Hall association.  He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Coddington of Ferndell, N.Y., and several nephews and nieces.

Brown of Beaumont; a half-sister, Mrs. Dan Cargill of Willis; two brothers, Jim and George Perry of Beaumont, and two half-brothers, R.L. and W.M. Perry of Willis.
